Seriously RECORD BREAKING! Everyone attending NITOC is invited to join in as we attempt to get Stoa into the official Guinness World Record Book!

The fun will begin Thursday at 8pm in the Founder’s Auditorium right on the BJU campus where we will attempt to break the current world record for the longest selfie relay chain! The Guinness World Record Book Organization is sending an official adjudicator to judge our event and provide us with instant approval!

What is the current record you may be asking yourself? Well, the longest self photographs (selfies) relay chain record is held by 289 people, and was achieved in an event organized by Dubai Motor Festival, at Meydan, in Dubai, UAE, on 28 November 2014. Stoa, we’ve got this!

Immediately following our record-breaking selfie relay attempt we will move onto a different type of record breaking, the announcement of NITOC’s speech and debate event breaks for out rounds!

PARENTS WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! GUINNESS REQUIRES THAT WE PROVIDE A “steward” FOR EVERY 50 PARTICIPANTS DURING THE RECORD BREAKING ATTEMPT.

Here are the Guinness World Record Book Rules for Longest self photographs (selfies) relay chain that everyone will need to know in order to participate -
1. For the purpose of this record a selfie is defined as a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or tablet.
2. In order to qualify for this record all selfies must:
3. Be taken with a smartphone or tablet held by the participant appearing in the picture
4. Include at least the full face and neck of the participant(s) appearing in the picture
5. Be in focus and sufficiently bright to recognize the participant appearing in the picture
6. Feature all or part of the arm used to hold the phone or tablet
7. All participants must be standing in a line before the attempt starts, holding their smartphone in their hand, ready to take a self-portrait.
8. At a given signal the first person in the line will take a selfie of themselves and the second person, standing next to them, using their smartphone.
9. In each picture, two full faces must be clearly visible.
10. Once the first selfie picture is taken, the second person will take a picture of themselves and the third person in the line, using their own smartphone. And so on to the end of the line.
11. Each participant (with the exclusion of the first and last person of the line) will be featured in two selfies.
12. Each selfie must include two adjacent people in the line (at least faces).
13. There is no time limit for the record attempt, however the selfies must be taken consecutively. The time between one selfie and the next cannot exceed 60 seconds.
14. The same smartphone can be used to take several selfies should one or more participant not have a smartphone of their own.
